How to use Clauseplain, what the analysis actually does, and what it cannot tell you.

Getting started

  1. Open the analysis page. No account and no sign-up are needed.
  2. Paste the full text of your sponsorship or brand-deal contract into the box. The whole document works best — not just the page you are unsure about.
  3. Click Analyse. Clauseplain splits the contract into clauses and shows each original clause beside a plain-English explanation of what it commits you to.
  4. Read the clauses marked unusual first. These are the sections that often deserve a second look or a lawyer’s opinion before you sign.

Frequently asked questions

What does Clauseplain do with my contract text?

Your contract text is sent to an AI model to produce the clause-by-clause breakdown, and the results are shown back to you in your browser. Clauseplain has no account system and does not store contracts on its servers; there is nothing to retrieve later and no contract library is built from what you paste.

How accurate are the explanations?

Explanations are generated by AI and may contain errors. That is why every summary is shown next to the original clause text — always check the explanation against what the contract actually says. The green-flag style markers for unusual terms are pattern-based and can miss things, so treat them as a prompt to read carefully, not as a complete audit.

Is this legal advice?

No. Clauseplain is a reading aid, not a lawyer. It explains clauses and flags terms that commonly favour one side, but it cannot tell you whether a deal is fair or whether you should sign. If you are unsure about anything in a contract, consult a qualified lawyer before signing.

What kinds of contracts does it work with?

Clauseplain is built for sponsorship and brand-deal contracts between creators and brands: exclusivity, usage and licence terms, payment timing, termination, and similar clauses. It will also attempt most other English-language contracts, but it is not tuned for employment contracts, leases, or court filings, and the results will be less reliable on those.

What features are available?

Every feature is free. Analyse any sponsorship contract (rate-limited to 10 per minute), get the clause-by-clause breakdown, plain-English explanations, unusual-term markers, search and filter clauses, export results as a text file, and save analysis to your browser's local storage for later. No account, no credit card, no plan.

Note: Clauseplain is currently a single free plan. A paid tier would need accounts, subscription state, and a connected live payment processor — none of which exist yet.

Why did a clause get flagged as “unusual”?

The unusual markers draw attention to patterns that often carry terms a creator should think twice about: automatic renewal, broad indemnity, perpetual licensing, long or vaguely worded exclusivity, and one-sided termination rights. A flag does not mean the clause is unfair or invalid — some of these are normal in certain deals. It means: read this one closely, and ideally have a lawyer look at it.

How do I understand the exclusivity clause in my contract?

Look at what the clause says about scope (which products, categories, platforms, or time periods you are barred from promoting), duration (how long the restriction lasts, and whether it renews automatically), and exceptions (pre-existing deals, non-competing brands, or carve-outs). Clauseplain shows you the plain-English version next to the original text, and flags exclusivity clauses with long or open-ended periods. If the duration is unclear or the scope covers more than you are comfortable with, treat that as a clause to negotiate before signing.

Known limitations

We would rather be plain about what this product does not do yet:

  • Explanations are AI-generated and can be wrong. Always compare them with the original clause text.
  • Clauseplain is not a lawyer and is not a substitute for legal advice.
  • It is tuned for sponsorship and brand-deal contracts, not other legal documents.
  • There is no account system. Analyses live in your browser tab and are gone when the tab closes.
  • Export, saving, and search are all built as free features.
  • There is no email sender, so Clauseplain cannot email you results, confirmations, or reminders.
  • No legal entity has been registered for this product yet.
